Which Paris Pass Is Worth It? Honest Comparison Guide

Paris offers several sightseeing passes that can save money if you plan fast-paced and busy itineraries. Whether any pass is “worth it” depends on your itinerary and pace.

I have compiled detailed information about the available passes: the Paris Museum Pass, Paris Pass, Paris Explorer Pass, Paris Pass Plus and Klook Pass. This guide allows you to compare them based on what’s included, who each is for, what you must reserve and the prices, plus sample itineraries that actually save you money.

What All Paris Passes Have in Common

• The passes do provide Skip the Line advantage at many attractions. However, it does not let you bypass security queues. You will still have to wait.
• The passes give you flexibility to try what you may not have otherwise. Like visit museums you want to check out but are not sure you will definitely like. Or the cruises or tastings that you may otherwise not think of.
• You still must reserve certain sites (check under each Pass) in advance. That is a limitation – you will have to buy the Pass, get relevant code/ID of your Pass and make timed reservations of relevant sites (each Pass has this on its site to make it easy for you to reserve).
• There are discount codes available time after time for either of these passes, therefore search for promotions before purchasing.

Paris Museum Pass

This pass offers a 2, 4 and 6-day options with a combination of 50+ museums, such as Louvre, Chateau de Versailles, Musée d’Orsay and others.

• 2-Day Pass price: 70 €
• 4-Day Pass price: 90 €
• 6-Day Pass price: 110 €

The website in general provides detailed information about each site, opening times and other useful information you would need. It certainly is a very efficient resource.

Sites that Require Timed Reservation

Some sites require reservation whether you have a Pass or not. Of course the reservation will be done for free with the Pass, but you must do it in advance. Here is the list of sites that require reservation. These include Louvre, Musee de L’Orangerie and Versailles among others.

The official website of the Pass states that they are not able to guarantee your visit, if you won’t manage to reserve on time. Therefore, make arrangements in advance for the popular sites.

How to purchase Paris Museum Pass Tickets

You can purchase the tickets on the spot at one of the participating museums. However, given that some museums require reservations even with the Pass, it’s best to purchase the Pass in advance and make your reservations on time, as they can fill fast.

Purchasing online on the official site is the best option. This will allow you to make all required reservations without missing out.

The Major Sites Included in the Paris Museum Pass

Here is the sample list of things with relevant prices you can do with this pass, that could make it worth it:

• Arc de Triomphe: 16 €
• Conciergerie: 13 € – timed reservation recommended
• Musée d’Orsay: 16 € – timed reservation required
• Musée Cluny: 12 €
• Musée de L’Orangerie: 12.5 € – timed reservation required

• Pantheon nave and crypt: 16 €

6-day Pass Price: 110 €

Of course you can’t visit all of these site in 2 days, however, it would be a good option to visit them all on 4 or 6-day pass. Especially if you also wish to make a day trip to Versailles for instance.

Is the Paris Museum Pass Worth It?

If you have less than 4 days in Paris, it definitely is not worth it. However, if you have more days and are planning to visit the sites listed above and/or others included, then the Pass will be good value for you.

Sample 4-Day Itinerary with the Paris Museum Pass

Paris Explorer Pass (Go City) 

This Pass is different from the other Passes on the list, as it is not an unlimited pass but rather includes 3 to 7 attractions of your choice from the list.

Is Paris Explorer Pass Worth it?

In my opinion the Paris Explorer Pass is worth it only, if you are interested in some of the expensive options it offers. For example, 3 attractions Pass costs 79 €. Some of the most expensive attractions you could choose with it to save money include the following:

• Chateau Versailles full access: Up to 32 €
• Sainte-Chapelle and Conciergerie entrance plus walking tour: Up to 32 € + walking tour price = approximately 50 €
• Musée Louvre tickets + tour of the surrounding areas: Approximately 50 €
• Seine Sunset Cruise: Up to 30 €

If you decide to choose 3 experiences from the above list, the Explorer Pass can save you money. Make sure to see the real price of each of the experiences you would like to do on the website.

If the activities listed above are what appeals to you, buy the Paris Explorer Pass.

The Paris Pass (Go City All-Inclusive)

Same as Paris Museum Pass, Paris Pass has options for unlimited access to included sites for 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 days. It lists 46 attractions.

Unlike the Museum Pass, the Paris Pass not only includes attractions, like Eiffel Tower climb (not the elevator), but also a number of experiences and activities – Seine cruise, walking tours, Hop-on Hop-off bus, wine and cheese tastings and so on. There are a number of diverse offerings under the Pass, which would make your trip balanced.

• 2-day Pass: 139 €
• 3-day Pass: 164 €
• 4-day Pass: 184 €
• 6-day Pass: 214 €

Is Paris Pass Worth It?

Paris Pass will be worth it for travellers, who want to experience many attractions quickly. However, if you prefer slower travel and want to soak in the atmosphere of the city by walking around the city, rather than constantly doing activities, then the pass is not for you.

Included diverse attractions and activities that would make Paris Pass worth it:

• Big Bus Hop-on Hop-off tickets 24 hours: 42 €
• Eiffel Tower guided climb: 39 € (only if you can climb the stairs, elevator would be with surcharge)
• French wine tasting at Le Cave du Louvre: 36 €
• Aquarium: 27.50 €
• Notre Dame and Archaeological Crypt tour: 39 € (note: entrance to Notre Dame only is free)
• Seine River Cruise: 19 €
• Tour Montparnasse: 25.50 €
• Grevin Wax Museum: 27.50 €
• Croque Monsieur & Champagne Cocktail by the Seine: 30 €

As you can see, if you do this whirlwind tour, the Paris Pass will definitely be worth it. But if this is your first time in Paris, this itinerary is not so great, as you may want to walk around and experience the city that way, instead of doing activities all the time.

• Morning: Climb Eiffel Tower (this does not include elevator): 39 €

These itineraries are of course just an example of what you could do using the Pass. Of course, depending on your interests and style of travel, the itineraries may be very different from this. Also If you prefer slower travel, or are more cultural oriented, then the Pass may not be worth it for you.

Paris Pass Plus

Imagine a combination of the Paris Pass and Paris Museum Pass discussed above. The Paris Pass Plus includes all 46 attractions and activities of the former and all 50+ museums of the latter.

• 2-day Pass: 179 €
• 3-day Pass: 204 €
• 4-day Pass: 244 €
• 6-day Pass: 294 €

The Paris Pass Plus would not be worth it for most travellers, given that you would need to have some crazy itineraries to make it value for money. I honestly can’t think of any combinations, which would make it worth it.

Klook Pass Paris

This is like the Paris Explorer Pass mentioned above and includes a number of sites you choose:

• 2 attractions: 62 €
• 3 attractions: 100 €
• 4 attractions: 118 €
• 5 attractions: 143 €
• 6 attractions: 140 €

The pricing changes at times. As you can see at the time of writing 6 attractions are cheaper than 5. So check, if you get good savings.

Is Klook Pass Paris Worth it?

In general, Klook Pass won’t be worth it, as many inclusions, mainly just site tickets, would not be worth it. However, there are some of the things that would make it worth it:

• Seine River walking tour with d’Orsay museum ticket: 53 €
• Eiffel Tower with elevator guided tour: 54 € (it will be cheaper if you get tickets without tour)
• Big Bus Hop-on Hop-off tickets 24 hours: 42 €
• Versailles Palace all access: Up to 32 €, depending on season

There are also Premium additions, which change the pricing, those are Disneyland and Paris Museum Pass. Check if it’s worth it for you.

Overall, Klook Pass may only be worth it, if you do more expensive activities listed above. Buy Klook Pass Paris.

Which Paris Pass Should You Buy?

Whether any of the Attraction Passes will provide value for you depends on what kind of trip are you planning:

• Are you a cultural buff, who is visiting Paris to experience all its amazing museums? Choose Paris Museum Pass.
• Are you in Paris for a short stay, but want to do diverse activities, like Big Bus/Seine cruise/Eiffel Tower climb/tours? Paris Pass will be a great value.
• Are you in Paris to slow travel but want to add some tours that are expensive? Check the Go City Explorer Pass or Klook Pass for specific activities you want to do.
• Are you a slow traveller, who wants to explore independently by strolling in the streets, sitting in the cafes and entering only some of the museums? None of the Passes would provide value for you. Just buy single tickets.
